The German Basketball Federation e. V. (DBB) is the national German basketball umbrella organization. He organizes basketball in Germany . The office is based in Hagen .
founding
The association was founded on October 1st, 1949 in Düsseldorf . The first chairman was Siegfried Reiner . The forerunner, founded in 1947, was called the "Society for the Promotion of Basketball". As of January 2019, according to the inventory of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) , the DBB had 212,093 memberships and thus had the highest number in its history. The lowest value with 190,152 members was found in the DOSB statistics in 2010.
tasks
The statutes, adopted in 1976 and subsequently amended several times, provide for the organization of German championships and participation in international championships and the Olympic Games . Other tasks include the training of referees and trainers, the promotion of competitive, popular, leisure, as well as youth and school sports.
National competitions of the association
In the responsibility of the DBB, five competitions are held annually across Germany:
- DBB Cup
- Youth Basketball Bundesliga (JBBL)
- Junior Basketball Bundesliga (NBBL)
- Female youth basketball Bundesliga (WNBL)
- German championships in age groups over 35 and over 40
In addition, for the internal maxi basketball / the Federal Best Games basketball from age category Ü45 pitted for women and men.
