history
In November 1884, several bowling clubs joined forces in Krefeld and founded the bowling association of the Rhine and Ruhr. In that year the German bowling and skating newspaper appeared. After the first local association was established in Berlin , the Central Association of German Bowling Clubs was founded at the bowling congress in Dresden in June 1885 . From 1886 national festivals were held regularly on the asphalt and plank railways recognized at the time. In December 1889 the Central Association of German Bowlers was renamed the German Bowling Federation (DKB) . The first German championships and the first three-lane comparison match with the USA on plank, asphalt and bowling alleys took place in 1891. The scissors lane was only approved by the German bowling association in 1921, the bowling lane was approved as a further type of lane in 1929.
After the dissolution in World War II , the German bowling association was re-established in Bielefeld in 1950 . The first world championships on scissor tracks took place in Essen in 1955 . The first fully automatic cone setting machines were also put into operation in Germany. The 23rd and so far last national festival of the DKB was held in Berlin in 1965 on scissor, plank, bowling and asphalt lanes. There were 48 bowling alleys available for 5018 registered starts.
The first bowling alleys with a plastic tread were installed in the early 1970s. At the 1974 World Cup, the first asphalt Euro-tracks were presented (without boards, with a false throw channel). In 1985 the DKB celebrated its 100th anniversary, in December 1990 the new federal states were admitted to the DKB.
Railway types
The following types of railways have been approved by the DKB:
- The Classicbahn, which is mainly located in southern and southeastern Germany (Baden, Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, southern Baden and Württemberg), consists of a 19.50 m long and 1.50 m (with lateral limitation due to false throw channels) wide ball tread made of asphalt or plastic.
- The screed run, which is used mainly in northern Germany (Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein), consists of a 23.50 m long and 0.35 m wide grooved ball tread made of wood or plastic, with the track having an overall gradient of 10 cm.
- The Scherenbahn, whose catchment area is in western Germany (Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland), consists of an 18 m long, also grooved running surface, with a width of 0.35 m to 9.50 m Extended to 1.25 m like scissors. This running surface is also made of wood or plastic.
- The bowling alley, spread throughout Germany, consists of an 18.28 to 18.30 m long and 1.041 to 1.065 m wide running surface made of parquet.
Disciplinary Associations
A discipline association has been formed for each type of track approved in the DKB - screed, bowling, classic and scissors. This has the legal status of a section.
Disciplinary Association | Abbreviation | Track type | Members |
---|---|---|---|
German bowling association Classic | DKBC | Classic | 56% |
German Bohle Bowling Association | DBKV | Bohle | 24% |
German scissors-bowling association | DSKB | scissors | 12% |
German Bowling Union | DBU | bowling | 9% |
Members
Traditionally, the game disciplines are regionally different. In five federal states, in addition to the dominant track, another one is relatively heavily used: Saxony-Anhalt (Bohle in 2nd place), Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse (Schere) and Brandenburg (Classic). The following table, which can be sorted, breaks down the DKB members in absolute numbers and relative proportions according to regional associations and types of railway.
