The German Darts Association e. V. ( DDV ) is the national umbrella organization for darts in Germany . It is recognized by the World Darts Federation , which belongs to the association of international sports associations SportAccord , as the sole responsible darts association for Germany and has been a member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation since December 2010 .
history
The DDV was founded on August 21, 1982 in Wiesbaden.
Rolf Kahrau from Cologne was elected as the first president of the DDV. This position is currently held by Michael Sandner.
In 1983 the DDV was entered in the register of associations at the Wiesbaden district court.
On December 4, 2010, the German Darts Association became the 98th member of the DOSB at the general assembly of the German Olympic Sports Confederation in Munich. At that time, the DDV had a total of 11,019 members.
In 2018, the DDV was able to hire full-time competitive sports personnel for the first time and is heading into the future with sports director Jürgen Rollmann .
The German Darts Association has been a member of the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) since 2019 and is hosting a Paradart season for the first time in 2020 .
Members
In 2019, over 13,000 members are organized in 13 permanent regional associations in the DDV. Thuringia has been the 13th member of the DDV since 2016. The DDV thus consists of the following regional associations:
- BDV (Bavarian Darts Association)
- BWDV (Baden-Württemberg Darts Association)
- DVBB (Darts Association Berlin Brandenburg)
- HBDV (Hanseatic City of Bremen Darts Association)
- HDV (Hessian Darts Association 1985)
- LDVH (State Darts Association Hamburg)
- LDVT (State Darts Association Thuringia)
- NDV (Lower Saxony Darts Association)
- NWDV (North Rhine-Westphalian Darts Association)
- RPDV (Rhineland-Palatinate Darts Association)
- SADV (Saarland Darts Association)
- SDV (Saxon Darts Association)
- SHDV (Schleswig-Holstein Darts Association)
Competitive sport
The DDV has kept individual rankings for women and men since it was founded. At the German championship in 1987, a junior tournament was played for the first time. Since the 1995/96 season, the youngsters have been playing their ranking tournaments separately for boys and girls.
After the German championships and the German Masters, the largest and most important national tournaments are the three world ranking tournaments Bull's German Open (Bochum), German Gold Cup (Bremen) and Dortmund Open. The Bull's German Open is one of the largest darts tournaments in the world with almost 1600 participants in singles (seniors and juniors).
Team sports are also practiced in the DDV. There is a fixed league structure in the regional associations. Until 2004, the national associations always sent the respective national champions and other qualified participants to the German team championship. The German team champion was then played on a weekend.
The DDV has been organizing a Bundesliga since 2005. In two groups of 9 divided into a Bundesliga North and South, the participants of the Bundesliga finals are determined on 8 match days. In the first two years, the top two of the two relays qualified for the finals. In 2007 the number of final round participants was increased to 8 teams, now the top four teams take part in the final round.
Currently (season 2017/18) the following 18 teams play in the Bundesliga:
