Gerhard Nacke-Erich
Gerhard Nacke-Erich (* 1912 / 1913 in Bad Meinberg , † 13. April 1984 ) was a German basketball player and -funktionär.
career
Nacke-Erich was an active athlete swimming, athletics and ball sports. He came into contact with basketball through Hermann Niebuhr and from then on promoted the sport as head of the Office for Physical Education for Students in Bonn. He was in the extended squad of the German national basketball team, but missed the 1936 Summer Olympics due to an injury.
After the Second World War and his return from captivity, he worked as a study assessor in Dortmund , was involved in setting up the institute for physical exercises in Bonn , and later headed the institute for physical exercises at the Technical University of Aachen and from 1957 to 1977 at the University of Münster .
Nacke-Erich was a co-founder of the General German University Sports Association (ADH) in 1948 , he became chairman of the arbitration tribunals of the University Sports Association and headed the West German Basketball Association as President from 1952 to 1954 .
In June 1953 Nacke-Erich succeeded Siegfried Reiner as President of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), after he had previously been one of the association's co-founders and had been on the board from 1949. He remained in the presidency until his resignation in 1964 and was made an honorary member of the DBB that same year. Nacke-Erich was an advocate of student and popular sports, competitive sports and thus the introduction of the basketball league , he was critical of.
In 1961 he co-founded the University Sports Club (USC) Münster , and from 1978 until his death in 1984 Nacke-Erich was chairman of the Münster City Sports Association.
Nacke-Erich has been awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and the Golden Badge of Honor of the German Basketball Federation, the West German Basketball Association and the German Olympic Society for his activities .
