from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

DSV aktiv / Friends of Skisport e. V. (FdS) has been dedicated to the needs of recreational athletes since it was founded in 1960. DSV aktiv is an extraordinary member of the German Ski Association and currently has around 300,000 members. This makes DSV active the largest recreational sports organization in the world.

history

Before the founding of the association, the topic of safety in skiing was not pursued by any institution. The increasing number of accidents among German ski vacationers indicated an acute need for action. With the founding of DSV aktiv / Freunde des Skisports eV the safe and conscious experience of skiing should be promoted. In addition to the safety aspect, environmental awareness and sustainability have been added as core issues over the course of the company's 50-year history.

Together with the German Ski Association (DSV), DSV was able to actively establish the idea of safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable skiing. The prevention of accidents on ski slopes was and is one of the core issues. In addition to DSV, the German Ski Association and the Safety in Skiing Foundation (SIS) , founded in the mid-1970s, are actively involved . Together they played a decisive role in the formulation of the FIS rules for skiers. The DSV-Skiwacht, which emerged from a model test in 1977, takes care of safety work on German slopes and trails.

Insurance coverage

In addition to the topic of safety in skiing, insurance protection for winter sports enthusiasts also plays an active role for DSV. The Friends of Ski Sports (FdS) were founded in 1960 with the idea of insuring club athletes against sports accidents through the mandatory sports insurance of the state sports associations. Since it was founded, DSV aktiv members have been able to protect themselves with an insurance package for winter sports, the ski insurance . This includes extensive insurance cover for winter and summer athletes. All skis and snowboards (breakage / theft), including rental skis / snowboards and ski helmets, are insured. An accident, liability, health and legal protection insurance is also included. In addition, the regularly appearing magazine DSV aktiv Ski- und Sportmagazin is published for members.
