Silke Meier (born July 13, 1968 in Kaiserslautern ) is a former German tennis player .

Career

The daughter of the former Bundesliga soccer player Reinhard Meier began her career in the SV Alsenborn tennis club.

In the WTA world rankings in October 1987 she was ranked 40th in singles. Her greatest success was winning the title at the WTA tournament in Oslo in doubles with Claudia Kohde-Kilsch in 1991 . It was her only title win on the WTA Tour ; there were also three singles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit .

Meier also played for the German team that won the Fed Cup for Germany for the first time in 1987 .

After her professional career, Silke Meier became an honorary coach in the youth field at the German Tennis Association .
