Reinhard Meier (born March 11, 1946 in Wiesbaden) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Reinhard Meier, who came to SV Alsenborn from Germania Wiesbaden in 1969 from the Hessian amateur league , made his debut on the third match day, August 24, 1969, in a 5-1 win against SC Friedrichsthal with two goals under coach Heiner Ueberle in the Regionalliga Südwest . Alsenborn won the championship in the southwest in 1969/70 and was last in the Bundesliga promotion round. There Meier came against the later promoted Arminia Bielefeld on May 27, 1970 in the 0-1 home defeat to use. In the second Alsenborn year, 1970/71, he was a member of the SVA team on March 21, 1971, which outclassed the guests of Saar 05 Saarbrücken with 11-0 goals in the home game . Meier scored two goals. In the 1971/72 season he took third place with Alsenborn and coach Horst Kunzmann - Manfred Lenz scored 28 goals for the top scorer in the southwest. In his first five rounds with the "Red Devils", Meier had to deal with coach Erich Ribbeck from 1973 to 1978 . The midfielder made his debut on the first day of the 1973/74 season, on August 11, 1973, in a 2-2 home draw against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga . In the 1975/76 season Meier completed all 34 round games and scored four goals for 1. FCK, who came in seventh. In this round, the games in the 1976 DFB Cup became the sporting highlight. In all seven matches, including the final on June 26 against Hamburger SV , the reliable player represented the colors of his team. When Kaiserslautern was able to take third place in the Bundesliga for the first time in 1978/79 with coach Karl-Heinz Feldkamp , Reinhard Meier was part of the regular line-up with 28 appearances and six goals. He was a regular player for most of his eight years with FCK. Meier played his last Bundesliga game on November 15, 1980 in a 2-2 draw at Borussia Dortmund , where he came on for Johannes Riedl in midfield in the 71st minute . In the 1980/81 season he also played in the UEFA Cup in the games against RSC Anderlecht and Standard Liège and represented the Lautrer colors in the DFB Cup in the main round games against VfR Heilbronn , SG Egelsbach and FC Bayern Munich . However, after he was only used sporadically from 1979 and mostly as a substitute, he ended his playing career and took over the coaching position of the FCK amateurs for the 1981/82 round, which he held until 1987. Employment at FK Clausen and at Südwest Ludwigshafen followed . From February 1990 Meier was once again the coach of the amateurs of 1. FCK, in 1990/91 he coached Wormatia Worms . Reinhard Meier is the father of the tennis player Silke Meier .
