history

The Egelsbach sports community goes back to the previous gymnastics club from 1874 , the gymnastics community from 1885 and the Egelsbach soccer club from 1903 . After the end of World War II in 1945, the military government ordered the establishment of a sports community. SG Egelsbach was founded on November 10, 1945.

The first soccer team of SG Egelsbach was represented several times in the DFB-Pokal . In 1976/77 they survived the first round with a 3-0 win at 1. FC Mülheim , in the second round they lost 0-2 to VfL Osnabrück in front of 3,000 spectators. In the 1980/81 DFB-Pokal , after defeating TuS Neuendorf in the second round , the SG played against Bundesliga club 1. FC Kaiserslautern and lost 1: 3 goals in front of 5500 visitors.

In 1994 SG Egelsbach won the Hessen Cup and qualified again for the DFB Cup 1994/95 . Again 1. FC Kaiserslautern were opponents of the sports community, which drew a respectable 0: 2 in front of 7,000 spectators. In the same year Egelsbach was a founding member of the Regionalliga Süd , in which the team played for three years until they were relegated. Financial problems then led to another sporting decline. The 2018/19 season ended the club in 8th place in the Offenbach regional league.
