Tilemann Plathner

Tilemann (Tile) Plathner , also Platner , Plettener (born November 24, 1490 in Stolberg (Harz) ; † November 6, 1551 there ) was a Protestant theologian and reformer .

Life

The son of Stolberg councilor Tile Plat (h) ner and Margaretha Udra studied in Leipzig and in 1506 in Erfurt , where he a. a. also met Justus Jonas . In 1519 Count Botho zu Stolberg called the master's degree as pastor at the St. Martinikirche in Stolberg (Harz) . From 1521 he stayed in Wittenberg as a companion to the young count sons Wolfgang and Ludwig . When Count Wolfgang became honorary rector of the university there, Plathner held the office of vice rector. On September 20, 1521 he was awarded a licentiate and on October 14, 1521, together with Justus Jonas, a doctorate in theology. They held the doctor's feast together. With Philipp Melanchthon friends, he tried the unrest Wittenberg movement settle. Melanchthon dedicated his Loci communes to him in 1521.

As a pastor, Plathner prepared the Reformation in Stolberg, supported by his friends Spangenberg, Johann Schneidewin and others, although Count Botho exercised restraint out of consideration for his two Saxon and Brandenburg liege lords. The Reformation could therefore only take place in Stolberg County after 1539. Plathner was at the head of the visitation. His learned commentary on the Gospel of Matthew remained unpublished.
