Manfred Lenz (soccer player)

Manfred Lenz (born November 21, 1947 in Rockenhausen ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

Manfred Lenz played in the Bundesliga in the 1972/73 season for Hertha BSC . Before that he was active from 1968 to 1972 for SV Alsenborn in the Regionalliga Südwest . In 1971 and 1972 Lenz won the top scorer's crown in the Southwest League with 25 and 28 goals respectively. After his Bundesliga time in Berlin , Lenz moved to the Regionalliga Südwest for FC 08 Homburg in 1973 and, in the last year of the old second-rate regional league with the FCH, took third place. From the 1974/75 round he was active with Homburg in the 2nd Bundesliga South and remained loyal to the club until the end of his career in 1986. Twice in 1976 and 1978 he reached third place in the 2nd Bundesliga and was also a member of the Homburg team in 1983, which won the title of the German Amateur Football Championship . He became the record player of the FCH with 421 games and 122 goals and recently inducted into the Hall of Fame of FC 08 Homburg. Manfred Lenz played a total of seven Bundesliga games and 303 second division games in which he scored 91 goals.

After his active career, he ran the sporting goods store Sport Lenz in Homburg . He agreed three times to step in as a coach at FC Homburg and was relegated with the club in 1990 from the 1st Bundesliga . He was also a trainer at FCH in 1994/95 and 2001.
