Between 2014 and 2020, SC Paderborn 07 made a historically unprecedented “elevator ride” . After the first league promotion to the Bundesliga in 2014/15 , the SCP was relegated directly and in the following season also as bottom of the table in the 2nd Bundesliga 2015/16 . Also in the 3rd soccer league 2016/17 you found yourself on a relegation zone at the end of the season and faced a direct sporting fall from the first class to the amateur classes. It was only after the second division relegated TSV 1860 Munich was not licensed that they moved on to the third football league in 2017/18 , which, however, was left as runner-up at the end of the season. In the 2nd Bundesliga 2018/19 , the team finally managed to " march through " as a promoted team and after five years again reached the top class for the 2019/20 Bundesliga , to return to the 2nd Bundesliga 2020/21 the following year to dismount.
England
In England, elevator teams are known as yo-yo teams. The frequent promotion and relegation of individual clubs is favored by the high income discrepancy between the Premier League and the lower leagues. Relegated players from the Premier League still receive payments in the second division for their membership in the top division of the previous year. This additional income often enables them to advance in the next season or the following season. There, however, due to the missed seasons in the Premier League, they are among the financially weakest teams, which means that they will soon be relegated, so that this process is repeated frequently.
