useful information
- Due to the participation of the German U21 national team in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , the season started later than usual. For this reason, it was already interrupted after the 19th matchday, before it continued after the winter break with the 20th matchday instead of the usual 22nd.
- The highest victories were the 6-0 home victories of FSV Frankfurt over SC Fortuna Köln and Sportfreunde Lotte against SC Paderborn 07 .
- As the first team, SC Paderborn 07 would have been relegated from the Bundesliga to the regional league within two years. Due to the non-issuance of the third division license to the second division relegated in 1860 Munich, SC Paderborn remained in the third division.
- An average of 2.40 goals were scored per game.
