Women's DFB Cup 2015/16

The women's DFB Cup was played for the 37th time in the 2016/17 season. As in the 2009/10 season, the final took place in the Rheinenergiestadion in Cologne .

Participating teams

The teams in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga of the past season were automatically qualified. In addition there were the promoted players in the 2nd Bundesliga and the winners of the 21 regional cup competitions. Second teams are generally not eligible to participate. If a second team, whose first team has already qualified for the DFB-Pokal, or a promoted player to the second Bundesliga, wins the state cup, the defeated finalist in the DFB-Pokal moves up.

As for the first time in the previous year, lower-class teams were granted home rights against higher-class teams up to the quarter-finals. However, if both teams are below the 2nd Bundesliga, no more home rights were exchanged. For example, in the first round of the fourth division SC Weyhe played away with the regional division Fortuna Dresden.

In addition, a pilot project of the DFB began in the round of 16, through which a fourth substitution is possible in the event of an extension.

The game rounds were played on the following dates:

  • 1st round: 20./21. August 2016
