Cindy König (born August 15, 1993 in Bremerhaven ) is a German soccer player . She has been storming for Werder Bremen since 2007 and was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2015 and 2020 .

Career

In 1999, König started playing football in boys 'teams at SC Sparta Bremerhaven , where her father and one of her brothers also played, and in 2006 switched to a girls' team at Geestemünder SC . A year later, she switched to the newly established women's football department at Werder Bremen, with whose B-Juniors she was North German champions in 2009 and 2010. After making her debut in the 2nd Bundesliga North in March 2010 in a 0-0 draw against Holstein Kiel , König has been an integral part of Werder's first team since the 2010/11 season . On September 5, 2010 (4th matchday), she scored her first two league goals in her second game for Werder in a 4-1 home win against Tennis Borussia Berlin .

After the 2011/12 season she was voted “Werder Player of the Season” by the fans and in 2012/13 she was second best goalscorer behind Anna Laue with 15 goals in the 2. Bundesliga North. She was even more accurate in the following two years: with 16 ( 2013/14 ) and 18 ( 2014/15 ) goals she was the top scorer for two years in a row. Also in 2015, she and her team managed to get promoted to the Bundesliga as runner-up, as champions 1. FC Lübars decided not to be promoted. On August 30, 2015 (1st matchday), she made her Bundesliga debut in the home game against 1. FC Köln .
