Lena Pauels (born February 2, 1998 ) is a German soccer goalkeeper .
Career
societies
In the summer of 2013, Pauels moved from Kevelaerer SV to the youth department of Bundesliga club SGS Essen . With the B-Juniors she won the championship of the B-Juniorinnen-Bundesliga West / Südwest in her first season and thus reached the semifinals of the German Championship, where the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam had to be defeated 0: 3. For the 2014/15 season she moved up to the squad of the second team, for which she came to her first adult appearances in the Regionalliga West . On April 19, 2015, she made her Bundesliga debut in the 3-1 away defeat against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . After she was only used for the second team in Essen in the 2015/16 season, she moved to Werder Bremen, relegated to the Bundesliga , in the 2016/17 season . There she quickly fought her way to the regular place in the goal, became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga North with the team and thus celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga.
National team
Via the Niederrhein selection, Pauels got into the squad of the U-15 national team , for which she played a total of five games from 2012 to 2013. After Miriam Hanemann's failure, she was nominated for the U-17 European Championship in England at short notice in December 2013 and won the European championship title with the team as a substitute goalkeeper. At the U-17 World Cup in Costa Rica the following March, she was also part of the German squad, but remained without use. In July 2014, she won the Nordic Cup in Sweden with the U-16 national team , which the team won after beating the hosts 3-0 in the final. Pauels was used in two preliminary round games. After making her debut for the U-19 national team in La Manga, Spain, in February 2015 , this team qualified for the European Championship in Israel two months later . Here the German team qualified for the U-20 World Cup 2016 in Papua New Guinea . Pauels was in the decisive preliminary round match against Spain and in the semifinals against Sweden in the German goal. In 2016 she was part of the U-19 European Championship in Slovakia and was used in two group matches. For the U-20 World Cup in the same year, she was also part of the German team, but remained without tournament participation.
