Bundesliga 2016/17

The 2016/17 season was the 13th season of the 2. Bundesliga in women's football . The season began on August 28, 2016 and ended with the last game day on May 21, 2017. The relegation games against relegation were for the 27./28. May and the 3rd / 4th June 2017. The champions of the two seasons are promoted to the Bundesliga , while the last two teams are relegated to the regional league. The two third from bottom determine the fifth relegated team in the first and second leg .

In the north, Werder Bremen managed to get promoted again on the third last match day. In the south, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's second team secured the championship. Since this is not eligible for promotion, runner-up 1. FC Köln moves up . The SC Sand withdrew its second team from the league. This eliminates the relegation of the third-last.
