Women's Bundesliga 2011/12

The 2011/12 season was the eighth season of the women's second division . The season began on August 28, 2011 and ended on May 20, 2012. The relegation games between the third-bottom should take place on May 28 and June 3, 2012. The women's football department of SV Victoria Gersten joined SV Meppen on July 1, 2011 . The second team of FCR 2001 Duisburg moved from the south to the north group.

The FSV Gütersloh 2009 and VfL Sindelfingen secured each at 20. Round promotion to the Bundesliga. The Gütersloh women benefited from the fact that the second team of the 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam is not allowed to move up to the first division. The relegation places occupied FCR 2001 Duisburg II , FV Löchgau , Mellendorfer TV and Borussia Mönchengladbach . With the withdrawal of Hamburger SV from the Bundesliga, the relegation was canceled.

Three second division records have been set this season. The home game of FSV Gütersloh in 2009 against Mellendorfer TV in the Heidewaldstadion saw 1,502 spectators, which meant a new visitor record for a second division game. The FSV's 15-0 victory was also the team’s greatest victory. In the same season Turbine Potsdam II had already won 15-1 against Mellendorfer TV. These two results contributed to the fact that Mellendorfer TV clearly surpassed the negative mark of "most conceded goals in one season", which had been 96 goals conceded up to then (SC 07 Bad Neuenahr II in the 2006/07 season ), with 122 clearly.
