The Mellendorfer TV (full name: Mellendorfer Turnverein von 1919 eV ) is a sports club from Mellendorf . The sporting figurehead of the club, which was founded in 1919, was the women's football department , whose first team played in the 2nd Bundesliga for two years . In addition to football, there are many other departments: basketball , badminton , health sports , handball , hockey , judo , athletics , dance , hockey, cycling and table tennis .

history

The soccer players first attracted attention in 2004 when goalkeeper Tessa Rinkes became vice European and world champion with the U-19 national team . After the end of the 2004/05 season, the team rose to the Regionalliga Nord and finished second in the first season. A year later, the team finished third and won the Lower Saxony Cup. The B-Juniors became North German champions in the same year. By winning the national cup, the team took part in the DFB Cup for the first time . There came in the second round after a 1:12 home defeat against the second division Herford SV . In the regional league, the team became champions and thus rose to the 2nd Bundesliga.

There the team finished tenth after starting difficulties and had to go into relegation against the tenth of the southern group, the FV Löchgau . After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Löchgau won the second leg in Mellendorf 1-0 and sent MTV back to the regional league. Although the direct rise was successful, but it went back to the regional league again in the 2011/12 season . The team lost 1:15 against the second team of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam and even 0:15 against FSV Gütersloh 2009 . At the end of the season, the team was withdrawn to the district league Hannover-Land, but managed to get promoted again.

The first men's team made it to the Hanover district league in 2012, but was promptly relegated. In the 2014/15 season, coach Alex Fleischer managed to qualify for the promotion relegation to the district league with the 1st men, but it was lost. In the following 2015/16 season, the young team was able to qualify for relegation again with second place in the district league. With two wins against Eystrup and Kirchhorst, they were promoted back to the district league.
