coat of arms

The design of the coat of arms of Mellendorf comes from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Gustav Völker , who also designed the coat of arms of Großburgwedel , Meitze , Wunstorf and many other places in the Hanover region. The coat of arms was awarded on June 13, 1955 by the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior .

Coat of arms of Mellendorf
Blazon : "In silver a rooted, green oak tree , the trunk of which is covered with a red shield , inside an upright, silver wolf's tang ."
Foundation of the coat of arms: Mellendorf is a place that is characterized by a large number of old oaks. At the same time, the oak expresses the bond with northern Germany. Down-to-earth, loyalty to the home and durability are also symbolically expressed by the oak. The wolf angel in the small coat of arms is intended to indicate that it belongs to the Burgdorf district . However, the wolf angel also has a meaning that points to the past. There have been wolves in our area and wolf fishing was in use.
