The Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior and Sport is one of ten ministries of the country Lower Saxony . It is based on Lavesallee in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . The ministry has been headed by Boris Pistorius ( SPD ) since 2013 , and Stephan Manke is State Secretary .
tasks
The Ministry is responsible for:
- Internal security with the Lower Saxony police and the Lower Saxony constitution protection
- Legal matters relating to aliens
- Local authority
- Conducting elections
- Sports funding in Lower Saxony

In addition to Division L (management staff) and the independent complaints office for citizens and police, the Ministry of the Interior consists of six departments:
- Department Z: Management, Central Affairs and Sport
- Department 1: Migration and Geoinformation
- Department 2: State Police Headquarters
- Department 3: Local and State Affairs
- Department 4: Digital Administration and Information Security
- Department 5: Protection of the Constitution
In addition, the IT representative of the Lower Saxony state government belongs to the organization of the ministry. State Secretary Stephan Manke is currently filling this position. IT.Niedersachsen and the State Office for Statistics Lower Saxony are also part of the Ministry's business area .
