Richard Borowski

Richard Borowski (born September 27, 1894 in Hettstedt , † June 30, 1956 in Hanover ) was a German miner and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending primary school, Borowski first took part in World War I as a soldier and then worked as a miner in the Vogelbeck potash mine near Einbeck until 1925 . He joined the SPD in 1919, later became a local editor for the Volksblatt newspaper and was SPD party secretary in Göttingen from 1928 to 1933 . During the time of National Socialism he was arrested repeatedly and temporarily interned in concentration camps.

From 1945 to 1946 Borowski was the head of the authority and district administrator of the Einbeck district and from 1946 was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament for the first to third electoral period until June 30, 1956. In the first Lower Saxony state government elected by the state parliament , he held office from June 1947 to June 1948 as minister without portfolio . From June 9, 1948 until his resignation on May 26, 1955, he was Lower Saxony's Minister of the Interior . In addition, he held the post of Deputy Prime Minister from 1947 to 1951 .
