Heiner Bartling (* 4. September 1946 in stone mountains , today Rinteln ) is a German educator and SPD - politician . From 1998 to 2003 he was Lower Saxony's Minister of the Interior .

Life

The son of a farmer visited the elementary and middle school , which he 1964 with the GCSE ended.

After training as an industrial clerk in a leather factory in Stadthagen , he volunteered for three years and left as a lieutenant (today he is a lieutenant colonel in the reserve).

From 1970 to 1973 he studied business administration at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and from 1974 to 1978 political science and business education at the University of Braunschweig and graduated with a state examination for a higher teaching post. In the year between studies he works as a teacher. From 1978 to 1986 he taught as a teacher at the Regional Commercial College in Rinteln.

Bartling has been President of the Lower Saxony Gymnastics Federation (NTB) since 2004 and was re-elected in 2012 for a further four years. He is also chairman of the German-Turkish Society Lower Saxony-Bremen e. V.

politics

Bartling became a member of the SPD in 1972 and worked in various functions at local, city and subdistrict level. Until 2007 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Schaumburg for 20 years .

In 1974 he became a member of the local council of Steinbergen, in 1986 he took over the post of mayor and was confirmed in the 2011 local elections. In 2018 he resigned from his position as local mayor. Since 1981 he has represented the SPD in the city council of Rinteln.

Since 1986 he has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . In the state elections in 2003 he missed the direct mandate, entered the state parliament via the state list of his party and was able to win his state constituency of Schaumburg again directly in 2008. In the state elections in 2013 he ran for constituency 38 Hameln / Rinteln and lost his direct mandate there to his competitor from the CDU. Since he did not have a secure place on the list, he resigned from the Lower Saxony state parliament. From 1998 to 2003, Bartling was Minister of the Interior of Lower Saxony. From 2003 he was the domestic political spokesman for his group. Bartling was an interior expert on the shadow cabinet of the Lower Saxony SPD top candidate Wolfgang Jüttner for the 2008 state election , known as the “future team” .
