history

The district of Schaumburg was formed as part of the Lower Saxony district reform on August 1, 1977 from the two former districts of Schaumburg-Lippe and Grafschaft Schaumburg as well as part of the district of Springe , whereby the city of Hessisch Oldendorf was assigned to the district of Hameln-Pyrmont . The communities of Großenheidorn , Idensermoor-Niengraben and Steinhude were incorporated into Wunstorf on March 1, 1974 and thus moved to the district of Hanover . Since then, the district of Schaumburg has roughly reunited the historic medieval state of Grafschaft Schaumburg . This was divided in 1647 between the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel , the Counts of Lippe and the Duchy of Calenberg. From the Hessian part the Grafschaft Schaumburg, which came to the Prussian province Hessen-Nassau in 1866 , was then run as the Grafschaft Grafschaft Schaumburg (with the district town Rinteln ) and was allocated to the province of Hanover in 1932 as part of an administrative reform within Prussia .

The Lippe part of the Grafschaft Schaumburg was called after 1647 Grafschaft Schaumburg-Lippe , which rose to a principality in 1807, became a free state in 1918 and remained an independent state until 1946, which then became part of the new federal state of Lower Saxony. The state of Schaumburg-Lippe consisted of the two districts of Bückeburg and Stadthagen , which were combined in 1948 to form the district of Schaumburg-Lippe.

  • Groups of voters, as the 2001 result cannot be broken down into individual groups of voters.
  • In addition to the elected members of the district council, the district administrator belongs to the district council.

FDP and WE have formed a group. The SPD and CDU have agreed on a "topic-related cooperation" after talks between the SPD and the Greens failed. In March 2012, the MP left the party and since September 25, 2012 has formed a new group with the representatives of the FDP and WIR.

District Administrator

Jörg Farr ( SPD ), who ran as a non-party candidate for the SPD, has been the district administrator since March 1, 2011 . He has been a member of the SPD since December 2011. He replaced Heinz-Gerhard Schöttelndreier (SPD), who had been in office since October 1, 1998 , and who had to retire before the end of the electoral term because he had reached the age limit. In the early election of the District Administrator on October 31, 2010, Farr was elected with 60.4% of the valid votes. On September 9, 2018, Farr was the only candidate to be re-elected as district administrator with 84.66 percent of the vote.

public finances

The budget for 2013 is 271.6 million euros. A new debt of 10.1 million euros is planned for financing. As a result, the debt level will increase to ~ 191 million euros by the end of 2013.

Cooperations

  • On January 1, 2013, the tasks of the auditing office were transferred to the Nienburg district.
  • The integrated rescue control center in Nienburg / Schaumburg, based in Stadthagen, has been in operation since April 4, 2013. She is responsible for coordinating the operations of fire and rescue services in both districts.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of the district of Schaumburg.svg

Blazon : "A silver nettle leaf in a red field with a blue border." The silver nettle leaf also appears in the coat of arms of Schleswig-Holstein .

(The landmark of the district, the Schaumburg , the ancestral seat of the Schaumburg counts in the Middle Ages, is located on the Nesselberg in the Schaumburg district of the city of Rinteln.)

Community partnerships

A parish partnership has existed (through its predecessor, the Schaumburg-Lippe district) with the city of Soissons in France since 1969 .

Economy and Infrastructure

economy

In the district, the service sector has the largest share of the gross domestic product . In addition, because of the landscape and the historic buildings, tourism plays a major role. Nationally known companies in the furniture industry, glass production, stone quarrying, etc., as well as the baths of the health resorts, were only able to hold their own in the last economically difficult years.

In the future atlas 2019 , the district of Schaumburg was ranked 266 out of 401 districts, municipal associations and independent cities in Germany and is therefore one of the regions with a "balanced risk-opportunity mix" for the future.

traffic

The Weser and the Mittelland Canal run through the district . The BAB 2 crosses the district in a north-east direction with the interchanges Bad Eilsen ( AB-AS-blau.svg35), Rehren ( AB-AS-blau.svg36), Lauenau ( AB-AS-blau.svg37) and Bad Nenndorf ( AB-AS-blau.svg38). The B 65 runs from Minden coming over Bückeburg and Stadthagen to Bad Nenndorf and from there on to Hannover . The B 83 opens Piper coming west of Biickeburg in the B 65. B 238 runs in a north-south direction of Steinbergen (district of Rinteln) via Rinteln to Lemgo and Detmold and B 442 of Neustadt on Ruebenberge from about Wunstorf, Bad Nenndorf and Lauenau to Eimbeckhausen.

The district is connected to the Hanover S-Bahn via the Hanover – Minden and Deisterbahn lines with the S1 (Haste – Hanover – Minden) and S2 (Haste – Hanover – Nienburg / Weser) lines. In addition, the RE lines Braunschweig –Hannover – Minden operate with onward travel to Bielefeld or Osnabrück and Rheine . Furthermore, the Elze – Löhne railway from Bünde / Löhne via Bad Oeynhausen Süd - Rinteln – Hameln to Hildesheim and Bodenburg crosses the district in the south . The RB 77 Weser Railway runs there . The railway Rinteln-Stadthagen and Rinteln in the area closed down Extertalbahn lead by the district.

There are also several health clinics, especially in the health resorts. On December 16, 2008, it was decided to merge the three existing hospitals under the umbrella of proDiako , which in turn was taken over by Agaplesion , to close the previous hospitals and to build a new one in Obernkirchen . A building permit was issued in spring 2013. After the planned completion in 2015, a total of 437 beds are planned.

Masterplan municipalities have undertaken to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 95% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels and to reduce energy consumption by 50%. The Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB) is funding the district as part of the National Climate Protection Initiative for a total of four years.

Culture

The registered association Schaumburger Landschaft takes care of cultural issues .

Costumes

Three of the most colorful traditional costumes in Germany were developed in the Schaumburg area. The Bückeburg, Friller and Lindhorster traditional costumes emerged from the Schaumburg costume around 1800. All have a red skirt. The women in the Bückeburg costume are characterized by the so-called black flights or bow hoods. The Lindhorsters wore a black banded bonnet over their forward-sloping topknot. The rare Friller costume had a small cap made of silk ribbon. The red skirt was worn until the 1990s. The traditional costume is promoted and maintained by traditional costume groups.

Sports

The annual popular sports event for the Schaumburger Land, the Jahn-Bergturnfest , celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2010. It has been held on the Bückeberg since 1935 , on the outdoor area of the Bückeberg Youth, Education and Leisure Center (JBFC) since 1979, and attracts hundreds of participants from a large number of associations in the Schaumburger Land as well as onlookers. Some individual competitions of the event take place in Obernkirchen and Stadthagen .
