The full-time mayor of the Eilsen municipality is Bernd Schönemann (non-party). He won the local elections on September 10, 2006 with 60.6% of the votes against the SPD candidate, Oliver Keller. His first term ended in 2014. In the last election on May 25, 2014, he was re-elected as a candidate for the CDU, supported by the SPD and the Greens, with 87.1%.

The municipality is located directly on the BAB 2 and can be reached via the Bad Eilsen West junction. In the southern area, the B 83 runs from Hameln to Bückeburg . The next train stations are in Bückeburg and Rinteln . The public transport is the bus lines 2006, 2020 and 2021 carried the Schaumburg traffic GmbH (SVG) and with the line 31 of the company Rottmann & Spannuth bus traffic (RSO). Another line from Bückeburg to Bad Eilsen is operated by the Bad Eilsener Kleinbahn (BEK).
