The community is located in the Weserbergland Schaumburg-Hameln nature park between Minden and Hameln.

history

The now abandoned Meierhof Henkhausen, which was built before the year 1000, is seen as the origin of Buchholz. As another farm owner, a “Thom Bockholtze” is noted for the first time in 1551 by the clerk of the count's government. Since 1648, Buchholz has belonged to the newly created state of Schaumburg-Lippe.
