Lauenhagen is a municipality in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony and part of the integrated municipality of Niedernwöhren .

geography

Lauenhagen is about 30 km west of Hanover . The district town of Stadthagen is about four kilometers south. In the northern part of the municipality, the Mittelland Canal touches the municipality. Neighboring communities are clockwise: the city of Sachsenhagen , the community of Lüdersfeld , the city of Stadthagen and the communities of Nordsehl and Pollhagen .

Lauenhagen consists of the districts Hülshagen and Lauenhagen.

history

Lauenhagen is first mentioned in 1247 as Lewenhagen . The place already had a church in 1253, which was under the patronage of the Bishop of Minden .

The district of Hülshagen was first mentioned in a document in 1465 and incorporated into the municipality of Lauenhagen on March 1, 1974.

Buildings

In 2004 the half-timbered house from 1540 was moved from Hof ​​Lauenhagen 1 to Hülshagen 10 and originally restored. Since then, the building has served cultural purposes. Weddings within the joint community can also take place here. In 2013 the half-timbered house Hülshagen 1 should also be moved to here. It was built in 1647.

Sports

The sports club TuS Fortuna Lauenhagen from 1922 e. V. offers football, tennis, table tennis, gymnastics, gymnastics, mother and child and running.

Personalities

  • Wilhelm Mensching (1887–1964), Protestant pastor and missionary. From 1943 to 1944 he hid a Jewish woman from the Nazis in the Petzen parsonage and was honored for this in 2001 by the Israeli Yad Vashem memorial with the title "Righteous Among the Nations". He was nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize.
