Cadastral area
In the geosciences, the cadastral area is the area of a geographical area determined by surveying .
The basis for determining the area is the cadastre managed by the land surveying offices , which contains the survey points and their coordinates . On the basis of the underlying geodetic model ( reference ellipsoid , geodetic datum ), an area can be determined up to a certain accuracy . In particular, the cadastral area is a projected area, i.e. not the actual area in the (three-dimensional) terrain . This applies to a continent or state as well as to a building area .
The cadastral area is kept by the land surveying authority as part of the property register. It can be based on old or imprecise measurements. This area information is a non-binding disclosure and does not constitute a legal claim .
