District administration
The district administration building on the corner of Neuer Markt and Dr.-Friedrich-Uhde-Straße was built in 1903/04 and was used by the district administration until the regional reform in 1974 and then by the city administration. Today it is privately owned. The former meeting room with coat of arms windows is on the first floor. Immediately adjacent in Dr.-Friedrich-Uhde-Straße is the former district administrator's villa, which was built at the same time.
coat of arms
Blazon : “Split, with a curved, lowered tip. Above: in front in red a golden (yellow), blue-tongued lion, behind in blue a silver (white) deer antlers on the grind, between the antlers accompanied by five (1,2,1,1) silver balls; the tip split by gold and red. " | |
Foundation of the coat of arms: The right half made a reference to the Counts of Dassel , who ruled the western part of the later district in the Middle Ages. The left half referred to the Guelphs, who ruled the eastern part with the principality of Grubenhagen . The lower part of the district coat of arms was modeled on the coat of arms of the Hildesheim diocese , as it was the legal successor to the county of Dassel. |
