Location of Hilwartshausen in Lower Saxony |
Hilwartshausen is a village in the Northeim district belonging to the city of Dassel .
geography
Hilwartshausen lies between the Ellenser Forest and Solling . Relliehausen lies to the west and Lauenberg to the east of Hilwartshausen.
history
The first documentary mention of this place is difficult to assign due to possible confusion with the monastery . Belonging to the county of Dassel until 1310 is certain , so there was at least one farm there before this year. At Hilwartshausen, the political border between the bishopric and ducal country , which for a long time ran through the middle of the village, for example along the present-day road from Lauenberg to Relliehausen, is hardly visible. Before and after the Second World War , new parts of the settlement were built in this place south of the Landstrasse and west of the place in the direction of Relliehausen.
Hilwartshausen was incorporated into the city of Dassel on March 1, 1974.

coat of arms
In the 16th century, Letzner decorated the courtyard into a castle and gave it the name Schnackenburg without giving any documentary evidence. According to legend, there were even two castles in Hilwartshausen. In the 18th century, Cramer took up the name Schnackenburg for the character of the opponent to his novel hero Adolph the Bold . For the local coat of arms, reference was then made to the Low German language roots of the word Schnackenburg .
