Location of Wellersen in Lower Saxony

Wellersen is a village in the Northeim district belonging to the city of Dassel .

geography

Wellersen is on the Dieße . The place is on the northern edge of the Ahlsburg (mountain range) on the western edge of the Leine ditch . On the outskirts there is a fault of Lia limestone close to the surface, so that ammonites have been found here.

history

The place was first mentioned as Wolderikessen in the sales deed of 1310 of the last Count of Dassel, Simon, and was thus part of the county of Dassel until then . After the Hildesheim collegiate feud , the place came to the principality of Grubenhagen as its westernmost part. The town's central manor house changed hands several times in the 17th century and was bought by a branch of the von Dassel family in 1639 . At that time there was a gypsum mill in Wellersen. The manor house changed hands several times in the 18th century and came again in 1772 to a later extinct branch of the von Dassel family. Then there were further changes of tenants and owners, including the gentlemen von Bortfeld and Carl Nahl , who erected a grave monument created by his father Samuel at the manor house for his grandfather Johann August Nahl . In the 20th century, the castle-like manor house was demolished; its portal is presented today in the town center.

Wellersen was incorporated into the city of Dassel on March 1, 1974.

politics

The local mayor is Helmut Dörger, the deputy mayor is Ludolf von Dassel. The current election period runs from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2016.
