Veil of Maya ( English "Veil of Maya") is an American deathcore band with Djent influences from Chicago , Illinois . The band is currently under contract with Sumerian Records .

The band's name comes from the common in colloquial metaphor of the "veil of Maya" from the mythology of the Indian goddess Maya and is not, as often assumed, from the eponymous song of the band Cynic or the poem by George William Russell .

history

Founded in 2004, the band recorded their first demo with three songs in 2005 . According to the motto “Do It Yourself”, the band began to stage and organize their own concerts and tours. After the band had made a name for themselves, they got an offer from Sumerian Records, where they then released their debut album All Things Set Aside in 2006.

With the help of Michael Keenes from the band The Faceless , their second album The Common Man's Collapse was released in 2008 , like its predecessor, under Sumerian Records.

In April 2010 their third album [id] came on the market, with which they reached the US Billboard 200 for the first time and made it to number 107. Like The Common Man's Collapse , the album was produced by Michael Keene.

The fourth album Eclipse was released in February 2012 . After the release, the band went on a tour across Europe with bands like Betraying the Martyrs and Vildhjarta .
