The Faceless is a technical death metal band from Encino , California .
history
The Faceless was founded in Encino, California by guitarist Michael Keene and bassist Brandon Giffin in 2004. They released their debut album Akeldama in 2006 and toured with bands like Necrophagist , Decapitated , Nile and The Black Dahlia Murder . Then drummer Brett Batdorf left the band while recording Akeldama . Former drummer Nick Pierce recorded the instrumental piece Akeldama . After a few changes of drummers, the band decided on Lyle Cooper.
The Faceless released the second album Planetary Duality in November 2008. The album debuted at number 119 on the Billboard 200 .
In January 2009 the group toured North America with Meshuggah and Cynic ; and in February 2009 she held another one with Cannibal Corpse , Neuraxis and Obscura . This was followed by a US tour with In Flames , Between the Buried and Me , and 3 Inches of Blood . After they finished this, a tour followed with Dying Fetus as a co-headliner. The band played at the Bonecrusher Festival in spring 2010 along with bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, 3 Inches of Blood, Necrophobic , Obscura, Carnifex and Ingested. Before performing at California Metalfest IV, founding member and bassist Brandon Giffin announced his resignation. It has also been announced that The Faceless will perform at the 2010 Summer Slaughter Festival alongside bands such as Decapitated , All Shall Perish , Decrepit Birth and others.
The Myspace page of the band, according to 2011, a new album will be published. The Faceless are currently playing a new song on their tour called The Eidolon Reality . It was also announced that a new bassist, Jared Lander, had been found.
On April 6, 2011, the band announced that they have a new bassist in Evan Brewer. Shortly afterwards they also announced that singer Derek Rydquist had left the band and Geoffrey Ficco would be the new singer of the band from now on.
On March 4, 2012 guitarist Steve Jones left the band and was replaced by Wes Hauch.
On August 14, 2012, the band's third album, Autotheism, was released. It peaked at number 50 on the American Billboard charts.
On March 20, 2018, all band members except Keene announced that they would be leaving the band with immediate effect.
style
The high technical style of playing is characteristic of the band's pieces. The style is also shaped by the deep growling and the high speed of the pieces, which are interrupted by slower, groovy passages.
