Necrophobic (from Greek. Νεκρός, nekros : corpse 'and φόβος Phobos :' fear ') is a Swedish death metal - band from Stockholm . The band name goes back to the song Necrophobic by Slayer , which is featured on the album Reign in Blood .
history
The band was formed in 1989 by David "Blackmoon" Parland , who later u. a. also played at Dark Funeral and War , and founded Joakim Sterner. After releasing two demos and an EP, the band got a recording deal with Black Mark Production , which also signed Bathory , one of the main influences on Necrophobic. After the label failed to bring the band any further, Necrophobic switched to Hammerheart Records in 2002 and then to Regain Records in 2005 . In addition to Necrophobic, guitarist Robert Sennebäck also plays with the death metal band Dismember and Fredrik Folkare was previously with Unleashed. The song Nailing the Holy One from the album Darkside was sung by Dissection singer Jon Nödtveidt , in the song La Satanisma Muerte from the album Death to All Alvaro Lillo and Erik Danielsson from Watain played as background singers. Former guitarist and co-founder of the band, David "Blackmoon" Parland, passed away on March 19, 2013. The circumstances of his death are unknown.
Music style and lyrics
The style of the band shows death and black metal influences. As with many other Scandinavian bands, classic heavy metal elements were increasingly integrated into the music of Necrophobic .
The portrayal of Satanism in Necrophobic is described by Todd DePalma as "generic (but no less sincere)", but it lacks "the occult mystery and lyrical talent of bands like Watain", compared to it appears youthful.
