In 2012 the EP was re-released on CD and LP by Hammerheart Records , these versions also contain the autopsy cover Ridden with Disease (published in 1997 on A Black Mark Tribute ), the Iron Maiden cover Moon Child (1998 on A Black Mark Tribute Vol . Music genre

Tobias Sidegård told Frank Albrecht from Rock Hard that Necrophobic had tried to combine their death metal roots and their passion for black metal . Since then, the band had "played with the idea of delivering an entire record in this direction" and tried to deliver it with the album Hrimthursum . Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard saw a movement from Death Metal to Black Metal and described the title song as a "fast, modern Nordic Black Metal number". According to Robert Müller from Metal Hammer , the band "carefully approached the new Dissection brand sound standard , which is also evident in the three cover versions on this record".

reception

Mühlmann recommended the EP for driving out Jehovah's Witnesses and gave it 8.5 out of 10 points. Albrecht complained that it "didn't say much about the current status of NECROPHOBIC, since it almost only contained cover versions". Müller described the Bathory cover as "very successful". Müller's colleagues Björn Thorsten Jaschinski and Manuel Liebler named Spawned by Evil in addition to Glorification by Marduk and Encyclopedia of Evil by Bewitched as part of a "flood of Black Metal MCDs with a high number of covers" that "ebbed away over ten years ago", in her article on cover bands from 2007.
