Death to All -

Death to All is the sixth album by the Swedish band Necrophobic .

Emergence

Death to All was recorded at Necrophonic Studios from December 2008 to February 2009. The album was mixed in February 2009 in the Chrome Studios by Fredrik Folkare and Necrophobic, in addition to Folkare, percussionist Anders Bentell and singer Tobias Sidegård were involved as sound engineers . The album was mastered by Peter In De Betou at Tailor Maid Production. Erik Danielsson from Watain , who played bass at some necrophobic concerts in early 2008, contributed vocals to La Santisima Muerte , as did Watain's live bassist Alvaro Lillo . Tobias Sidegård already knew Danielsson when he was still young and describes both him as a good friend and Watain as a friendly band.

A music video for Revelation 666 was released in 2010 , directed by Magnus af Göthlund.

Music style and lyrics

The album is almost consistently fast and not very varied, exceptions are, for example, the Iron Maiden end to Revelation 666 and “the serene 'Wings Of Death'”. Compared to Hrimthursum , the sound is more sinister and raw. While the music is based on Death Metal , the atmosphere is black-metal- heavy and reminds of Watain. The lyrics revolve “as always with Necrophobic about the dark side, Satan and anti-Christian ideas”.

reception

According to the review by metal.de , “'Black To All' would also have been a good fit, because like few other bands, the gentlemen know how to spruce up their Swedish Death with a decent edge of Black Metal. […] In addition to the grandiose return of UNANIMATED , 'Death To All' is certainly the highlight of the year at Schwedendeath / black so far and therefore a 'must-have' for all fans. ”Sargon the Terrible from The Metal Crypt described the album as good but not extraordinary and not a masterpiece. The music is not as fast as expected and the band has its own style with a lot more melodic guitar work than expected, but far removed from the Gothenburg style . Pagan Shadow, however, was disappointed after hearing it; he expects more atmosphere and harmonies in Black Metal. The album is redundant and he expected more from Necrophobic, but it was better than the ridiculous Nifelheim album that he got from Regain Records with Death to All . According to Antal from whiskey-soda.de , “[the] innovation content [...] is very manageable. But is that something bad? I don't think that as long as an album is created that shines with strong songs and a (albeit somehow comforting) occult - mystical mood and reveals fine details in the arrangements even after repeated listening. A strong disc that is on a par with the successful Unanimated comeback album. "

Roy Kristensen from the Imhotep webzine described Death to All as less good than Hrimthursum ; musically it is no less impressive, but less surprising. While the first few runs did not inspire him, he recently heard more or less exclusively this album. Arlette Huguenin from vampster called it “Album of the Year 2009! This work wins this title by a long way from all other publications. Because NECROPHOBIC deliver eight absolute hammer songs of superb quality, all of which bear the unmistakable signature of the band. " According to Moses from Terrorverlag , the band has been releasing one great album after the other for a good 20 years now," and their low success is correspondingly "[ V] oily incomprehensible, because you can't conjure up better music in this area! The new killer work 'Death to All' is no exception. ”According to Dennis Otto from Metal Inside , the band has the task of providing the“ blast ” Hrimthursum with “ an equal successor, [...] perfectly mastered ” .
