Neuraxis is a Canadian band from Montreal , Québec . The quintet plays a combination of technical death metal and melodic death metal . In medicine, neuraxis denotes the axial, unpaired part of the central nervous system in contrast to the coupled cerebral hemisphere.

Band history

Steve Henry (Urban Aliens, Empathy Denied, Idiotpathetics) formed the band in Montreal in 1994 . Shortly afterwards, singer Michel Brisebois, bassist Yan Thiel (Exult) and the second guitarist Felipé Quinzaños joined them. The band initially played a mix of grindcore and death metal , using a drum machine instead of a real drummer.

In 1995 the drum machine was replaced by Mathieu Royal. In 1997 the debut album Imagery followed and individual appearances in the opening act for bands like Borknagar , Dying Fetus or Suffocation . After various line-up changes, the second album A Passage To Forlorn was released in 2001 . This was followed by a tour with Cephalic Carnage through Québec , Ontario and along the American east coast.

Truth Beyond was released at the end of 2002 . After small tours through Europe and Canada , Truth Imagery Passage was released in July 2005 , which contained all three previous albums and a few bonus tracks on a double CD. In the same year the album Trilateral Progression was released .

In 2007 the Domination tour took place together with Rotting Christ , Incantation and Malevolent Creation . The live album Live Progression was subsequently released.

On July 22nd, 2008 the album The Thin Line Between was released . The subsequent Montreal Assault Tour was completed together with Despised Icon (with ex-Neuraxis drummer Alex Erian as singer), Beneath the Massacre , Carnifex and Plasmarifle (with ex-Neuraxis singer Maynard Moore).

On February 15, 2011, the sixth studio album Asylon was released. It was produced by Chris Donaldson, who plays together with bassist Olivier Pinard on ( Cryptopsy ).
