Cephalic Carnage is an American deathgrind band from Denver , Colorado .

history

Cephalic Carnage was founded in 1992 by Leonard "Lenzig" Leal ( vocals ) and Zac Joe ( electric guitar ). A year later, the two split after releasing their first demo called Scrape My Lungs .

It was not until 1996 that Cephalic Carnage was re-established and with the support of the new members John Merryman ( drums ) and Steve Goldberg (electric guitar) a new demo Fortuitous Oddity was recorded. The Italian label Headfuckers Records became aware of the band, and in 1998 the first album called Conforming To Abnormality was released. In the same year bassist Doug Williams left the band and joined Origin . He was replaced by Jawsh Mullen.

In 2000, after they signed a record deal with Relapse Records , their second album Exploiting Dysfunction was released . A tour with Napalm Death and The Dillinger Escape Plan followed . Their next album, Lucid Interval , hit stores in 2002, followed by a tour with thrash metal bands Kreator and Destruction .

In September 2004 the band recorded their fourth studio album, Anomalies , and a music video for the song Dying Will Be the Death of Me , which is a parody of metalcore , was released. Anomalies finally appeared in March 2005.

In 2006 Jawsh Mullen left the band for private reasons. At the beginning of 2007 a substitute was found for him in Nick "Brass Smith" Schendzielos. In the same year the fifth studio album Xenosapien was released - also on the Relapse Records label .
