Decrepit Birth is a technical death metal band from Santa Cruz (California) , USA .

history

The band was formed in 2001 by Matt Sotelo (guitar), Bill Robinson (vocals) and Derek Boyer (bass). Since the intention was to play the most destructive and brutal Technical Death Metal possible, it was a good thing that the guitarist and bassist had already played together at Deprecated and so could easily put together the material for ... And Time Begins .

In the fall of 2002, Tim Yeung began recording and almost a year later ... And Time Begins was released . Although this had a limited edition, it still managed to build a large fan base in the Death Metal scene. The band, however, had long periods of drought due to the lack of a drummer (Tim Yeung was only there for the studio work). Then Derek Boyer got the chance to play as a full member in the band Suffocation . Now the drummer and bass player were missing.

In 2004 bassist Risha Eryavec joined the band and shortly afterwards drummer KC Howard from Odious Mortem joined them. For the next few years this line-up played a variety of shows and festivals and toured North America. In 2007 the band took a break and concentrated on working on the new album. Meanwhile, the line-up changed, among other things because Risha had family problems, so that the band could start after the release of the album Diminishing Between Worlds (2008) with Dan Eggers (guitar) and Joel Horner (bass) from the band Odious Mortem . They did their biggest tour so far, opening shows for The Black Dahlia Murder , 3 Inches of Blood and Hate Eternal . The band signed a record deal with Nuclear Blast in spring 2008.

style

The band is clearly classified in technical death metal, but thematically lies in a different area. It is less brutality and blood that play a role, but rather philosophical and scientific topics.
