history

Church of the manor

In 1359 Hermann von Dassel bought a farm called Hoppelhusen north of Lauenberg from the possession of the von Uslar family , which the city council of Einbeck confirmed. The Lords of Dassel acquired feudal rights from the houses of Oldershausen and Plesse for the surrounding lands . They later leased the farm temporarily and then managed it from Lüneburg . From there, George III. von Dassel to the farm at the end of the 16th century and expanded the property into an estate . At the beginning of the 17th century he used Kötner and Meier in other courts . The small village of Hoppensen soon emerged from this . In the meantime the Thirty Years War had broken out and came to this area several times. The gentlemen von Dassel tried to protect the place from destruction by buying property rights. An imperial unit under Pappenheim as well as a Swedish one agreed to this and spared the place. Nevertheless, towards the end of the war, Hoppensen was badly damaged by troops passing through and had to be rebuilt. In 1691 a new small manor church was consecrated, for which the Lords of Dassel took over the church patronage . After the Wellersen line ended , the grave monument for Johann August Nahl was erected next to the church.

Hoppensen was incorporated into the city of Dassel on March 1, 1974.
