Avendshausen is a village and north-western district of the city of Einbeck in Lower Saxony , which is somewhat remote from the city's important traffic routes.

history

The place name indicates a settlement by Saxons between 500 and 800 and means something like "the houses of Aven". Avendshausen was first mentioned in a document in 1286 in the register of passive fiefs of the knight Dietrich von Walmoden, there called Avenhusen . The place had its own school since 1734, which was closed in 1965.

Avendshausen was incorporated on March 1, 1974 into the district of the city of Einbeck.

Culture and sights

  • The church, which is said to date from the 10th century, was destroyed during the Thirty Years War in 1641 and rebuilt by 1657. It contains a plunge pool that was still common in the 13th century. Ecclesiastically Avendshausen belongs to the ev. Parish Lüthorst
  • Next to the church is a half-timbered building, the former rectory from 1788.
