history

According to a legend, both villages were created at the time of King Heinrich the Vogler in the 10th century. The place Ahlshausen is documented from the year 1208 as Aleshusin and from the year 1238 as Aleshusen .

Around 1500 the two localities of Ahlshausen-Sievershausen belonged to the Principality of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel . From 1807 to 1813 they were under the administration of the rural canton of Einbeck in the Kingdom of Westphalia , then until 1850 to the district office or district of Gandersheim.

In 1850 the two villages were converted into independent communities, but retained a common administration. Around 1891 they were merged again to form the community of Ahlshausen-Sievershausen.

A windmill used to stand on the Sonnenberg, on which two modern wind turbines stand today. It burned down in 1924 after being struck by lightning.

On March 1, 1974, in connection with the regional reform in Lower Saxony, a law passed by the Lower Saxony state parliament to reorganize the communities in the Northeim, Einbeck and Gandersheim area came into force. The community Ahlshausen-Sievershausen was dissolved and a district of the community Kreiensen in the district of Northeim. On January 1, 2013, Kreiensen merged with Einbeck to form the (new) city of Einbeck.

The rumor that Max Beckmann attended the private boarding school in Ahlshausen in 1899 has been rumored for years. The existence of such a facility has not yet been proven.
