Vogelbeck is a village and southern district of the city of Einbeck in the Northeim district in Lower Saxony , close to federal highway 3 .

history

The place name of the village is probably derived from the nearby bird castle .

In 1894, the local landowners signed contracts with those interested in potash , which resulted in high interest payments and the settlement of potash workers. Funding by the "Siegfried" union was discontinued in 1926. The "Siegfried" cement works followed from 1928 until its closure in 1975 as the most important economic factor in the area.

Until 1840, Vogelbeck formed the office of Brunstein with the villages of Denkershausen , Edesheim , Elvershausen, Hohnstedt and Langenholtensen . Since the district order in 1885, Vogelbeck belonged to the Northeim district .

Vogelbeck came to the city of Einbeck with the district and territorial reform on March 1, 1974.

Culture and sights

Vogelbecker Church

The church of St. Georg belongs to the parish of Leine-Solling . Little information has come down to us about the old St. Georgii Chapel in Vogelbeck. In 1689 the fallen chapel was torn down to the ground and rebuilt. Only so much is known of the previous building that it probably came from the 14th century and was a multi-storey building type. Its floor plan was a simple rectangle with no choir . The chapel room is said to have been spanned by two ribbed vaults. The extent to which the Wiebrechtshausen Monastery, founded around 1240, influenced the construction of the first chapel in Vogelbeck can no longer be determined. What is certain, however, is that the monastery in Vogelbeck was wealthy and the chapel was built next to the former monastery lean-to. In 1912 Vogelbeck received the new St. Georgii Church, which was built over the old, previously demolished chapel as a neo-Gothic building. The windows on the altar show Jesus' blessing of children , the Sermon on the Mount and the Lord's Supper .

The Vogelsburg lies north of the village .
