Garlebsen is a village in the city of Einbeck and is located northeast of the city center.

geography

The village lies at the foot of the Tauberg on the northeastern edge of the Hube (ridge) . A few hundred meters east of the village, the floodplain flows into the Leine .

history

The first mention of Garlebsen took place in the 13th century. The place was named indirectly with the citizen Hartmannus de Yerleveshn in 1231, an earlier mention with Guerliueshuson , which dates between 1142 and 1153, is considered to be a forgery from that 13th century. The place was incorporated into the municipality of Kreiensen on March 1, 1974 . As part of this municipality, Garlebsen became a town in the newly formed town of Einbeck on January 1, 2013.

Garlebsen has a joint local council with the districts of Ippensen and Olxheim .

The local mayor is Hans-Joerg Kelpe.

Culture and sights

The townscape is shaped by the building of the Garlebser Church. The historic hose tower at the fire station is also worth seeing .
