Location of Negenborn in Lower Saxony

Negenborn is a village in the eastern part of the city of Einbeck . It is located on the southeast edge of the Hubewald .

history

The first written mention of the place took place in the Corveyer traditions between 890 and 900.

The church of St. Laurentius, the oldest parts of which probably date back to the 14th century, once belonged to the Alexandr pen and was given a new tower in 1883 due to the risk of collapse. Florinus de Hupeden is documented as the first clergyman to be appointed as plebanus in Negenborn in 1386. When exactly the church was founded is unknown. Johannes Letzner mentions a noble Junker family who lived on a donjon not far from the village and who could be considered as donors of the church in honorem St. Laurentii . When they died, the place fell as a detached fiefdom to the Salzderhelden office . In 1494 the church in Negenborn was named a parish church .

The remains of a ring wall can be found on the 325 m high castle hill of the Hubewald north of the village. The excavations carried out there yielded numerous finds from different epochs. The ring wall was dated to the Middle Ages using the radiocarbon method. The ring wall was built east of the medieval settlement of Kugenhusen . The wall made of earth and stones is preceded by a bench and a shallow ditch.

Negenborn was incorporated into the city of Einbeck on March 1, 1974.
