Location of Strodthagen in Lower Saxony

St. Justin

The village of Strodthagen is a district of the city of Einbeck, about eight kilometers to the north . To the east is the 187 meter high Sülberg, on which the Sulbichi des Suilbergau court was located.

history

The place was first mentioned in documents on Ascension Day in 1312 when Duke Heinrich von Braunschweig-Grubenhagen u. a. bequeathed half the tithe of his village Struthagen to Vicarius Bertram in the Alexander monastery at Einbeck. On October 1, 1343, Dietrich Divitis, a citizen in Einbeck, sold a pension in Strodthagen to the church of Sankt Beatae Mariae Virginis in Einbeck. In 1390 Strodthagen was mentioned as a customs place on Alte Heerstrasse.

Strodthagen was the last place of residence of the theologian and historian Johannes Letzner , who presented the first comprehensive local history of what is now southern Lower Saxony with the "Dasselische und Einbeckische Chronika, Erfurt 1596". In 1610 he retired to Strodthagen, where he lived "in a small farmer's hut" until his death.

From 1909 the community was supplied with electricity from the Lockemann company in Sülbeck , initially only for street lighting. In 1912 a water pipe was laid from a spring in Landmannsholz near Dörrigsen . In 1946 the place had 256 inhabitants. From 1952 there was a makeshift school. From 1956 to 1967 there was a real school.

On March 1, 1974 Strodthagen was incorporated into the city of Einbeck.

The local mayor is Gitta Kunzi (SPD) from Dörrigsen.

The Einbeck towns of Buensen, Dörrigsen, Iber and Strodthagen elect a joint local council.
