Kohnsen is a village and western district of the city of Einbeck in Lower Saxony , which is connected to the federal highway 3 via the L 546 .

history

St. John's Church

The name of the place developed from "Chusinhausen" to "Cusinhausen", "Kosenhausen" and "Kosensen" to Kohnsen. The place was first mentioned in a document in 1063 in a confirmation from King Henry IV. The Einbeck Marienstift in Kohnsen had tithe rights from the 13th to the 19th century . In 1446 the rattle tower to the south of the village was built, which as part of the Einbeck Landwehr with the city area also secured the route from Kohnsen to Lüthorst .

Kohnsen was incorporated on March 1, 1974 into the district of the city of Einbeck.

On the heraldic shield, which is divided in silver and green on the left, a green deciduous tree is depicted on the right and a silver tower on the left. The tower is supposed to be a connection to the rattle tower, which is outside the actual village.

Culture and sights

  • St. John's Church, built of quarry stone from 1652, is the focus of the oldest part of the village, the lower village. In it you can find the bell, which was cast in 1503. The upper tower structure was only erected in 1865/66.
