Orxhausen is a village in the city of Einbeck , Lower Saxony .

geography

Orxhausen lies in a small valley that is surrounded by a few flat mountains, such as B. the Westerberg, is surrounded. The Gande flows through the village . That is why it is said that the village is in the "Gandetal". The European cycle path R1 runs through the village . Bundesstrasse 64 leads past Orxhausen at the top .

history

First mentioned in a document in 1231, the place was known under the name "Otherikeshusen" and consisted of several farms. Around 1549 it was said from a document that the village consisted of four Hufen and a Kothof. In 1700 the village was renamed Orxhausen. In 1751 Johann Heinrich Waldmann founded the Wahnemühle below the village.

Orxhausen was incorporated into the municipality of Kreiensen on March 1, 1974 .

As part of this municipality, Orxhausen became a village in the newly formed town of Einbeck on January 1, 2013.

Culture and sights

Buildings

A lightning strike in 1818 destroyed the town's church and burned to the ground. The Orxhausen Church was previously mentioned in a document. At that time it was very dilapidated. Four years after the destruction, the church was rebuilt on the foundation walls. This church building, a rectangular hall building, still stands in the village today. In 2004 the building was given the name Christ Chapel. The community belongs to the Gandersheim-Seesen Provostry .

Economy and Infrastructure

The Braunschweig – Kreiensen railway line runs parallel to the B64 ; the Orxhausen stop has been abandoned. In addition, a few hundred meters away passes the Hanover-Würzburg high-speed railway , which here between the Gandetalbrücke and Hopfenberg tunnel to the depot Orxhausen has.
