The Propstei Gandersheim-Seesen is one of 12 sub-districts ( Propsteien ) of the Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church in Braunschweig .

history

The Propstei Gandersheim-Seesen was created on January 1st, 2017 through the merger of the Propstei Bad Gandersheim and the Propstei Seesen .

Geographical location

The Bad Gandersheim area includes the south-western part of the Braunschweig regional church in the Leinebergland , with the political communities Bad Gandersheim , Delligsen and Einbeck being the largest towns and communities. The results summarized in the area Seesen churches lie in the political communities Seesen , Bad Grund (Harz) , Bockenem , Langelsheim and the Samtgemeinde Lutter am Barenberge . In the south, west and north it borders on the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover . To the northeast it borders on the Goslar provost's office and to the east on the Harzer Land parish (also Hanover).

Spiritual direction

The provost is the spiritual director of the provost. The provost also chairs the provost board. After the merger of the previous provosts of Bad Gandersheim and Seesen, Elfriede Knotte (Bad Gandersheim) and Provost Thomas Gleicher (Seesen) remain in office and take care of it together until one of them retires.

Parishes

54 parishes belong to the Gandersheim-Seesen Propstei. The administrative business of the Propstei is carried out by a board that has its seat in Seesen. The members of the parishes are represented in ecclesiastical matters by the Provost Synod, which until 2019 consists of all members of the two previous Provost Synods, as all elected synods remain in office until the new election.
