The Reformed Church in Saas im Prättigau is a Protestant - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons . The last time the building in Untergasse was restored inside was in 2001.

History and equipment

There is first documentary evidence of a church in Saas in 1290 under the patronage of Laurentius . Before the Reformation , a new building was built at the beginning of the 16th century. On the north side of the facade, since the fire of the church and partly new building in 1735, the tower has been attached, which has a campanile shape that is untypical for the German-speaking part of Graubünden .

inner space

The choir shows a late Gothic style and is covered by a reticulated vault . According to the Reformed tradition, the octagonal baptismal font is central and is dated around 1500. The pulpit with a sound cover dates back to the year of reconstruction in 1735. The organ is more recent and was installed in 1976.

Church organization

As an independent parish, Saas belongs to the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden and there to the Colloquium IX Prättigau . The parish and rectory - the latter a Walser house - are to the east of the church.
