Population development

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1296 inhabitants. In 1991 the market town had 1177 inhabitants, in 1981 1163 and in 1971 1098 inhabitants.

  • Petzenkirchen Castle : The castle was originally surrounded by a moat. Since 1945 the castle has been used by an office of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Institute for Culture Technology and Soil Water Management. In 1953 and 1987 the castle was expanded with additions. From 1998 to 2002 the building complex was extensively renovated.
